Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Tenuo, Inc. (“Tenuo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you visit tenuo.ai, including the documentation, the Engineering Blog, the delegation lab, the Explorer, and the demo pages (together, the “Site”).

It does not cover Tenuo Cloud, our hosted control plane at cloud.tenuo.ai. Tenuo Cloud has its own Privacy Policy, which applies when you sign in to or use it.

1. The short version

  • You can read the Site without an account. It does not set cookies, except for the optional demo booking calendar, which is provided by Cal.com.
  • We count visits with GoatCounter, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies.
  • If you subscribe to the newsletter or request a demo, we receive the details you type into that form.
  • The lab and the Explorer run in your browser. What you enter there stays on your device.
  • We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Newsletter. When you subscribe to the Engineering Blog, you give us your email address. Signups are handled by our newsletter provider, Buttondown, which sends you a confirmation email before adding you to the list.
  • Talk to us and book a demo. When you contact us, we receive your name, position, work email, and any company or notes you choose to provide through Formspree. You can then optionally choose a time on a calendar provided by Cal.com, filled in with your name, email, and notes. Cal.com receives the details you book with, sets cookies needed to run the calendar, and handles the invite under its own privacy policy. Cal.com loads only after you submit the form.
  • Email. If you write to us, we keep the message and the contact details you include.

Information collected automatically

  • Analytics. We use GoatCounter to understand which pages are read. It records the page visited, the referring page, browser and operating system, screen size, and an approximate country derived from your IP address. GoatCounter does not use cookies and does not give us your IP address.
  • Hosting logs. The Site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub receives your IP address and standard request information when you load a page, and may keep it in its logs for security purposes, as described in the GitHub Privacy Statement.
  • Fonts and scripts from other servers. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts and, on some pages, a code-highlighting script from cdnjs (operated by Cloudflare). Those providers receive your IP address and browser information when your browser requests the file.

Information that stays in your browser

The delegation lab saves your progress, and the Explorer saves your presets and history, in your browser’s local storage. That data is not sent to us. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings, and the Explorer also has a control to clear its history.

The Explorer and demo pages decode and check warrants in your browser. Warrants and keys you paste into them are not uploaded to Tenuo.

3. How we use information

  • To send the newsletter you asked for.
  • To respond to demo requests, and contact you about Tenuo.
  • To reply when you write to us.
  • To understand, in aggregate, which pages and topics are useful, so we can improve the Site.
  • To keep the Site secure and to investigate abuse.
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

4. How we share information

  • Service providers. We use vendors who process information on our behalf: GitHub (hosting), GoatCounter (analytics), Buttondown (newsletter), Formspree (form delivery), and Cal.com (demo scheduling). Each receives only what it needs to provide its service.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Tenuo, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. If Tenuo is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

5. The open-source project

Tenuo’s source code is developed in public at github.com/tenuo-ai. If you open an issue, comment, or contribute code there, your GitHub username, the content you post, and the name and email address in your commits become public as part of the project’s history. That activity is governed by GitHub’s terms and privacy statement, not by this Policy. Because published commits are part of the public record and may be copied by anyone, we may not be able to remove them later.

Using the open-source Tenuo libraries does not send data to Tenuo. They run in your own environment and do not report usage back to us.

6. Data retention

  • Newsletter subscriptions last until you unsubscribe. Every newsletter email contains an unsubscribe link.
  • Demo requests and email correspondence are kept for as long as they are useful for the purpose you contacted us about, and then deleted.
  • Analytics data is kept in aggregate form and cannot be used to identify you.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to request a portable copy, and to withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To make a request, email privacy@tenuo.ai. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it.

8. International transfers

Tenuo is based in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. If you visit the Site from outside the United States, your information may be processed in countries whose data protection laws differ from yours.

9. Children’s privacy

The Site is written for developers and businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, email privacy@tenuo.ai.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. If we make a material change, we will note it on this page and, where we have your email address for the newsletter, may tell you by email.
